JIM HAMILTON....

Jim shares the news of Ken Hook's passing (Jan. 13, 2008) with our class.  Ken's obituary may be viewed at:

DICK CORRINGTON....

Dick attended Les Sealand's memorial service and Dick had the following to say about the memorial service...."Les' memorial service last Saturday was really nice.  The Boulder Creek Community Church was full, with attendees from many phases of Les' life, including Bay High, the Militas Fire Department, golf buddies, and many friends from town.  During the service, several people shared their fond memories of Les.  The common theme was his kindness, willingness to help, sense of humor and how he genuinely cared for people.  He was loved by many throughout the town of Boulder Creek.  A large sign was posted along the main road through town reflecting that love."

After the service, reception (with dinner) was held at a facility north of town, and this was also packed with people.  It was a great time for sharing memories of Les and meeting some of his many friends.  Four of us from Bay High attended, Bill Campbell, Bob Westfall, Candace (Clark) Snyder and I.  We really enjoyed the opportunity to reminisce with each other about growing up in Bay and to just catch up with each other.  All in all, the day was a great tribute to Les."

 CAROL CHAPMAN (NOTERMANN)....

Carol recently e-mailed Jim Hamilton saying she is planning to be at the 50th as she wages her battle against her cancer......We send our love and prayers to Carol!

LES SEALAND....

Les passed away on October 30, 2007 of prostate cancer.  Les' obituary read as follows:

Lester Gordon Sealand  Dec. 28, 1943 - Oct. 30, 2007

"Well done, good and faithful servant! [...] Come and share your Master's happiness." Matt.25-21 NIV

Last Tuesday night, surrounded by friends and family, a great soul passed quietly out of this life and into the next.  Les is survived by his loving family - wife Mary and son Michael of Boulder Creek, CA, brother David of San Clemente, CA, and various nieces and nephews.  He also lives on in the hearts and memories of countless extended family and friends.

Les was a man of integrity, courage, selflessness and quiet humor.  As a Marine, he served his country.  As a longtime firefighter and general contractor, he protected and provided for his community.  As a beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend, he gave us laughter and love in abundance.

A memorial service will be held for Les at 1:00pm on Sat, Nov. 10 at Boulder Creek Community Church.  After the service, join us at YMCA Camp Campbell in Boulder Creek for a celebration of his life.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory by contacting Cyndi Lester at 831-234-0107.

If you wish additional information, you may reach Mary Sealand, Les' widow at 831-338-9660.
